I have an "87" Funliner w/a 3.0 I/O engine. I have come in contact w/an older guy who has a 89 Thompson Daytona 260, 10ft beam, with a Volvo-Penta aq231A 305 CID engine. I have tested the engine.OK,hydraulic trims work. Currently the tilt doesn't. The boat evidently has sat up since 1995. It had water stains on the cabin carpet in the front. I've replaced the bilges to 1500 GPH. The engine conpartment is all fiberglassed in but the transom wood inside is water rotted. The outside fiberglass is strong but the only rot seems to be on the back of this compartment. Question? if all seems strong can i reinforce this backing and/or would it be safe to take offshore? When I shift forward or reverse there is no movement of the transom as the engine and trannie are secure inside. It shifts smoothly. Thanx all, Joe
