If tyou never rebuilt the carb I think its time. Also check compression.
Which motor? 580 or 650?

Re: 89 seadoo problems

it starving for gas do the rebuild on the carb and it should run just fine. also throw away all the fuel hoses and replace them, you will see a green looking goo in those hoses, plus use good screw type clamps on the suction side of the fuel system to keep it from pulling in air, by now the fuel selector switch is also probably no good. I always bypass those and go directly to the reserve pickup at the tank.

pull the fuel line at the carb and mix up some seafoam and mixed gas let it run on that for a bit that thing will smoke like hell if it doesnt run any better after that then tear into the carb mine ran like crap i did that and it smoked out the neighbor hood but ran good as new after that

Hi, i have a 92 SPI/ SP? but its having pretty much the SAME problem, it runs GREAT out of the water...a little rough but it tops out with WOT. but when i put it in the water it wont rev up all the way, just seems to tops out at a VERY low RPM just past idle, then i pull it out of the water and she runs fine.... i just had the carb rebuilt yesterday and that dident fix it, i thought it would for sure! but $400 later....still not working anyideas what i should crack open? this is what iv checked so far.

air intake
carb
fuel sender
filter ( but havent replaced )
oil

i was running synthetic when it happend, the old oil was in the lines, and when it ran the new stuff though it started this CRAP! so i switched to mineral and its a LITTLE better, so it makes me think its got to do with the oil? if anyone can help id LOVE IT! thanks so much!

oil mixing has nothign to do with it. also if you paid 400$ to rebuild a carb you got taken. was the carb adjusted on the low and high sopeed screws? was it rejetted? who did the work? if it was a shop they should be ashamed of themselves. even if it was a private party they should be ashamed of themselves

Send it to me bro. Ill do it and send it back. Just send the rebuild kit along with it. if it needs something more Ill get it / probably have spare crap in the garage and ill jsut let you know. Wont cost 400$ though. Ill jsut do it. God knows i rebuilt enough of them. The guy who charged you that should be hung by his nut sack on a dock to a jet ski thats doing 40 MPH.
400$ to rebuild a carb? you got to be sh*tting me. I have no problem with someone making $$ on their labor but dont gouge people.

i have a 94 seadoo xp. how do you bypass and which hose is the reserve on top of tank where sending unit is. can i just take and put the hoses together at fuel selector. also can i leave the oil injection working and mix the oil and gas maybe do like 30-1 or 40-1 instead of 50-1.
