Anybody remember the dwell and point gap for these ancient omc cobras? Ford 460 '89 7.5l. 4 barrel. Model and serial # unavailable. Cant be read. It's in an old pos liberator by 4 winns

I seem to remember 28-30 on the dwell and a point gap of 17.

Does that make sense?

The dwell is 28-30 like you posted. The best way I found to get the dwell right is to ground the coil wire and with the plugs out spin the engine with the starter while watching the dwell meter. One thing I have always found that if you set the points with a feeler gauge the dwell is always off. So after setting the dwell forget the feeler gauge.
You should look into converting your ignition to a Petronics kit. The ignition parts that are made now are usually foreign trash and unreliable.
