89 omc 2.3l ford stumbling and hesitating

i check and regapped the points, changed plug wires, plugs, coil, water seperator, fuel filter, rebuilt the carb. i am out of ideas it starts right up runs stumbles for a split second runs, when i advance the throttle it hesitates then takes off, if i cruise it at about 2500 rpms it will run then sounds like it missing a cylinder then smooth for about ten seconds then miss and repeat. any ideas?? i am trying to take the boat out tomorrow so help is appreciated

try checking the fuel filterer in the tank

Checked the filter last night it was clean. The miss problem seemed to smooth out when i changed the condenser again. Now i just need to figure out how to make it more rich in the carb. Big hesitation but when i close the choke plate a little bit the hes. Is gone.

I've got the same engine in my 19.5 Blue Fin. I had nothing but problems with the points/condenser ignition in it. I went to a pertronic electonic conversion 3 years ago and it's like it's a different engine. Starts right up, idles like a dream and I can get 40MPH out of it on a calm day. I was lucky to get 35 before.

recheck float level setting
check accelerator pump for proper operation.

Distributors are issues on these I got rid of my 2.3 after going through 3 distributor gears,points and condensors
