hello all, posted a question not long ago about finding a tach for this engine and the fine folks here at iboats got me taken care of cant say how much I appreciate that. ive got another question I would like to get out on the net about the same engine however, I purchased this boat a year ago (89 tracker pro 17) and due to some cracking in the bottom of the hull I had to disassemble it to weld them up so unfortunately I never got the boat on the water to really test out the engine. ive got a thread over on tinboats.net with my restore progress but Ive ran this engine on muffs several times now and notice that the idle will increase and then ill get a pop followed by lower rpms that once again increase until it pops back and so on so on. once warm it seems to run better. I have installed a new water pump so ive got a good stream coming off the engine but due to not being able to open up the carbs on the engine yet im curious if you all would say this could likely be a carburetor issue I know the engine has sat for at least a year now and more than likely a year or two before I got it. im considering just taking it out and running some fuel through it and see if that helps cure the rough idle just wanted to get this out there and see if anyone has any recommendations thanks in advance !
