I had to remove my lower unit 3 times to fix my water pump (bought a crappy 3rd party pump. ended up buying a Johnson and that fixed it. had to remove starter and disconnect some wires to get to shift linkage) and when I reinstalled everything she ran well. Til I cut her off. Then she was dead. Fortunately I had a jump box and she got me back home. After some investigation and reflection, I realized I had put an extra wire on the ground post. I looked and ended up removing a green wire off, charged battery and she ran great again. Til I shut her off. And had no jump box this time. Thank goodness for good neighbors! I checked again today and saw that the green (possibly another color but appears to be green) had overheated and melted a lot of the cover off the wire. It''s a green wire that seems to come out of the same bundle as the black and white that go to a round plug and the ground post. It has a ring terminal on it. I cant figure out where that green wire goes, and have charged the battery (possibly not enough) and tried to crank her but the starter just spun the gear and didnt engage which I expect is low amperage.
Any suggestions on where that wire goes?
