I'm gonna try this again. I now have purchased a 89 force 85HP and the guy I bought it from said the problem was a "high speed module". Took it out today and it get to about 16 MPH and starts to skip is how I could explain it. it shudders and makes a duhn noise that gets faster and faster the more I acclerate over 16 MPH. It launches great and it really wants to go but it starts that cycle and it gets worse. I dont think its a fuel issue it really does seem like an ignition problem. If anyone has any suggestions I am wide open! And if anyone knows where I can find a module for reasonable please let me know. It seems to occur at around 3400 RPM

Well I took it out today and thought I would post a video of what it does. Just making sure its a module or possibly something else. Thanks

If misfiring only occurs under a heavy load, as when accelerating, it is usually caused by a defective spark plug or spark plug lead.

Well I will certainly try that before sinking money into a module

Pardon my ignorance but is this a 2 or 4 stroke, if it's a 2 stroke with oil injection sometimes if theres a problem with the oil injection like a plugged filter the ECM will make the engine run rough at higher speed to get your attention, it happened to me once with a 35 Yammy, took awile to figure it out.

From the looks of it, I would say your problem is fuel not spark. The engine kicking appears to be when it leans out. Have you cleaned the carbs lately?

How is the fuel bulb when this is happening? Is is soft or hard? Have you looked inside your tank and at your pick up tube?

Regards,

John
