Howdy all. Going to be doing some ignition troubleshooting later. I've basically rebuilt the entire 89 Force 50. Only thing left is ignition.

Rough idle with intermittent kick until it quits. Higher idle has a skip and full throttle feels fine, but in my estimation is lacking punch and top end power.

So, newly rebuilt carb, fuel pump, intake, fuel lines, tank. 123psi compression on both cylinders.

I unplugged plug wire to bottom cylinder and it ran with NO kick. I ran on just bottom cylinder and it sounded horrible and died quick.

I'll be testing stator, triggers, coils and whatever else I can. I have the shop manual so hoping that is helpful.

Try a can of starting fluid around the intake side of the motor.
Spray and if it makes any difference?? then it's sucking air.
One tiny cough or backfire can blow the gaskets on the port covers.

Start and get warm.
Then pull the plug wires, top cyl. then the bottom, any change?
Try swapping the coils and see if the miss changes cylinders?

New pump, inspect anyway.
