Well, I posted another topic asking where the water is suppose to exit this motor put I used the word "pee" in the topic and it got erased - I guess the moderator thought it was foul language???

But, I would be much appreciated if anyone can tell me how easy it is to check the impeller on this engine, and where is the water supposed to exit?

The only place I can see it come out is a small hole directly in the center and about 2 inches below the cover (back side of motor). But it isn't a steady stream - it just blows out in spurts (in unison with throttle response). Is this normal water jetison for an older motor?

Any and all advice welcome...

Howdy H8er. Go back and read you other post. Nothing was erased. Also read the responses.

Your impeller is failing or the hose is plugged up. Replace the impeller. Buy a manual.

Good luck,

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

Look for a plastic nipple right side toward the
rear of lower engine cover. When you find it , start engine in water, give the nipple a blast of air.

Is it possible that this is an older engine with no telltail? I have an old johnson in which the water is spewed out of the exhaust relief port.(no tell tail other than that...)

Thanks for the advice. I think I will buy a manual and see how difficult replacing the impeller would be.

I will also get the model ID # so I can figure out what year this motor really is.

It definitely does not have a telltale - there is no nipple, and no water hoses inside the engine cover - just fuel lines.

That she must! The boat was an 89 that I got with the motor and the motor has an 89 at the end of the id #, so I just assumed...

If it were an 89, I have been told it should indeed have a tell-tale (which is not the case). I'm startin to think early eighties now.

When I get home tonight I'll post the numbers to see if the forum's collective wisdom can shed some light on it for me.
