Hello all...
Any opinions on a
1989 Barretta 185 F/S w/ a 4.3L OMC Cobra
It's priced near the NADA value but I've never
heard of Baretta. (I'm new, can you tell?)

Thanks in advance...

Nomad317,

My father in law has this same boat. He purchased it new in 1989. His is in great condition. His has always been garaged kept. He has never had one problem with the boat. He always says that "Baretta went out of business due to offering a great product and having to sell for less to stay competetivly priced." I have always liked his boat, but always thought it was a little underpowered with the 3.0 liter 4-banger. The 4.3 will be great. IMO it is a great fish/ski family boat!

Thanks SS182!

Now if I can only get the "dealer" to come down to earth on the price... I'd be set. (It's suddenly $1000 more then when I went in there 2wks ago and still $1500 to $2000 more than it's worth. (NADA))

Nomad , I am far from an expert on boats but. The dealer all of the sudden raised the price 1000$? Sounds a little shady to me, I think I would be very carefull on this deal. You might want to check the dealers reputation. Did they tell you why they raised it. Just MHO

----------------
Flathead

Flathead, The person(dealer) I first spoke to a couple weeks prior was not there the other day when we went. The other "slickster" said the 1st guy "misquoted" us. They are shady. In fact I think we've found our boat. I local guy is selling a 94 Four Winns OMC 4.3 (30hrs). It looks brand new. The guy is living with his brother and is trying to buy a house. You could tell he doesn't want to sell it. I'd much rather give this guy my money than the slime at the dealership despite the fact that the Baretta has everything we need. The Four Winns has been well cared for and for $5000, I can't beat it...
NADA: $6340 (with all the gear)
