I have a bass tracker with a '88 or '89 60hp Mariner 3cyl. It floods easily on cold start but starts and idles fine. When I put it into gear and give some throttle it completely dies. It does start right back up. I did notice that when it dies, primer bulb is not under pressure, I replaced tank and hose w/ bulb, problem still persists. Could it be spark plugs, fuel filter, fuel pump? I am DYING without fishing, please help. Thank you.

You have a lean condition, it could be a lean idle mixture, dirty carbs or the fuel pump check valves are leaking and not keeping the carbs full at idle.

I agree with LADDIES first start with the simple approach if carbs are floding they are probably floats sticking due to dirty carbs and knowing mariner and mercs It sounds like the fuel pump(fuel diapham) it cheap and easy to change I hope this helps

Thank you both for your advice, its nice to know some people like helping others. I just bought the service manual and i'm gonna try to not be intimidated. Cars seem far easier to repair than outboards, but i guess its all in what you know. I appreciate the help.
