89 2.3l omc(ford) firing order

i know the firing order is 1342 but was wondering if anybody had a link to show me exactly which one was #1 on distributor. i think i have it right but want to make sure before lifting engine back in boat. also wiring diagram for engine. this is in a 89 bayliner capri.

Not going to happen. No one here knows if your 89 engine ever had the distributor removed and reinstalled in possibley the wrong place.
The only thing you can do is to find #1 TDC on the compression stroke. Then look at the rotor. It will be pointing to where #1 spark plug wire should be located.

Best way to locate #1 TDC on the compression stroke is to remove the spark plugs, turn the engine by hand while you stick your finger into #1 spark plug hole, when you feel the engine starting to build compreesion, you are coming up on TDC. Continue turning slowly (take your finger out of the hole) till the TDC timing mark lines up with the pointer. That is #1 TDC on the compression stroke. Now, look at your rotor.

distributor was removed. i was wondering which one on cap was #1 as i think i have it right but want to double check. just replaced auxilary shaft and oil pump and a few other parts. want to drop motor back in the boat this week.

Do as Don says,But #1 on the cap will be where you have the rotor facing at TDC.

Where can i find a wiring schematic for this engine to make sure all my wires are in the right place. i pulled engine last year and rebuilt it and now plan on putting it back in. i took pictures but they got erased so i want to make sure everything is right before i hit the key.
