Got a motor in with a cracked head therefore dumping water into the oil.. Had the head replaced with a known good one along with exhaust manifold. Now the original 2.3 omc head gasket is NLA so I was told that the gasket for the 2.3 ford pinto automotive engine is the same.. Assembled engine and after 15 min run time water in oil again.. All 4 cylinders have water in them. First question is there a difference in head gaskets? And the bonus question is how are all 4 cylinders filling with water??

Manifold was replaced with a good used one and the riser gasket was also changed and was not the cause.. Not sure how to test the riser for a crack. Any suggestions on that test???

Go2marine lists a 2.3 head gasket.

A known good manifold? was it pressure tested?

The manifold was tested with Don's method with the acetone. No leaks.

After checking everything over. Installed new head gasket, intake and exhaust gaskets. No water in the oil after 30 min of run time but when the plugs are pulled and the motor is turned over, I have water in cylinders again.
The motor idles perfect and runs up to high RPM with no problem..

Intake manifold leak???
