I have noticed on my motor that I have 6 orifices located on the cylinder block next to each cylinder. These orifices are connected via rubber vaccuum lines. What are these orifices and how does one clean them? It appears that they are some type of check valve.

The end on the cylinders shouldn't need attention. The other end probably does. The check valves are there. They screw into the intake manifold. There is a tiny screen on each one that will clog eventually. Some might be sticky. About all you'll need is a 5/16 wrench, needlenose pliers, and carb cleaner. You can usually clean them up rather than replace, but you have to remove them to do it. Do it one at a time so you know the hoses go back on where they came from.

Thanks for the quick response! If they are faulty, what affect do they have on performance?
