89 100hp merc 4cyl missing on one cyl.

put new plugs in, checked plug wires, chuggin real bad. pulled plugs, one out of four was as clean as it was when i put it in! Im handy with a wrench but Im stummped. Any solutions?

Hi, Walli.<br /><br />That usually means water in the cylinder. Do a compression test. You may have a blown head gasket.

Thanks JB, I've got a couple other opinions over the phone B4 I checked back here., one thinks coil cuz it's only one cyl., other thinks switch box. The later seems spendy but still cheaper than new motor. Either way a compression test still sounds like a good start, thanks again JB. <br />Walli
