Ayuh,... Sure,.. Have at it.... Welcome Aboard...

You've got 188hp now, at about 300hp, your drive will turn to Dust...

You won't be getting enough HP out of that 302 to surpass the outdrive's HP limit (300HP). You can't stick in a hot cam and other mods you can do with street 302's. The exhaust manifolds are also not the best flowing things, so even if you get more air in the engine, it's hard to get it out. However, with a different cam and a 4bbl carb/intake, you can break in to the low-to-mid 200's and gain a bit of torque.

Re: 888 performance

I was listing the options he could do for it to make more power. Replacing the cam is a viable option if he wants to mess with it, but it's not like he's gonna get much power by going with a different cam. I believe you can change cams all you want to, but you better keep it mild if you don't want to run into reversion issues. The 256-grind seems to be a popular choice for those who want to upgrade from the stock cam on most small block v8's.

Either way, it still only puts him in the low-to-mid 200 HP range, so it's not much worth the trouble of pulling the pushrods/lifters just to get a slightly more aggressive cam to make an extra 10-15HP.
