Going to replace the diaphram in the fuel pump. Should have checked something else but anyway, i toke it apart and one spring fell out. i have it but it all came apart and i dont know the order it goes back in. The only diagram I can find only shows the diaphram and not the pin, and two springs that were inside. Anyone have a good exploded fuel pump diagram for the 1996 88 Special fuel pump? Havn't seen a fuel pump with all that inside. mostly have changed smaller hp ones out.

If you are buying the OMC OEM kit it should come with the instructions on where the springs go, I scanned the instructions for the square smaller style pumps but I'm sure they are different, yours is the bigger pump.

Your right, but I can use the extra cash to put fuel in the boat. its already apart, why not get the new diaphram and put it back together?

Thanks for all the help. i shouldn't have messed with it in the first place. But it all looks new except the diaphram so i'll buy the rebuild kit and put it back together. Save $50 bucks. Again, thanks for the help.

Ah the pump or kit debate, the way I see it- if the housing isn't broken why replace it, they aren't that complicated to change out and yes you do save big coin putting in a kit.

I'm lazy and also like to have the spare parts around.
