I just bought a 1988 24' sea ray Seville from a private dealer 3 weeks ago.
The first day i took it out i noticed the steering was very tight. I had to two hand the steering wheel just to turn left or right. I knew then that wasn't good. so when i got it home i checked to see if had a Tensioner I didn't find any thing. I grease the upper drive and the steering mechanism left of the motor. I even put grease on the shafts that move the upper drive left and right. It does have power steering and it had plenty of fluid. I don't know if its that or the steering cable because the cable tube looks good but noticed that the cable that is attached to the back to front are all one piece meaning the mechanism attached to the steering wheel is all one piece if replaced. I just need to know what to do i am pulling my hair out tryen to figure it out. I just want it to turn on a dime like it's supposed to do - ( Its a 4.3 L - V6 - SERV1820I788 )
