OK so there are a bunch of posts out there and I keep coming up with the same stuff..Similar situations ..
Too much pump pressure, bad float or incorrect setting..
Rebuild kit was from Sierra. right angle 4cc pump , my carb had no circuit/passage and had no checkball in the well.
I went with the solid needle as thats whats came out. 3/8 " level 1 3/32 " float drop.
Was not too happy with the bend on the acc pump shaft, had to tweak so the linkage would work freely..
Did read on one post to use my old acc pump spring that it was stiffer than the new one..That does seem to be the case.
The acc pump end was also different than the one i took out, does not fit the well spring as well..not sure if this means its the wrong pump, thinking of sticking the old one back in????

anywho ,
as I was cranking up on a cold start i noticed it was flooding. Peeked under the arrestor to watch gas steady dripping , almost running from one of the venturi's.
After I had it running and shut her down, the drip appeared to go away.
But I wasnt happy with the acc pump action, and I pulled it apart anyway.
I found the acc pump seal spring in the bottom of the well. Guessing this is becaise its not mating correctly with the spring???
Also
My next big question...
What excatly is the "Toe" of the float?
My Sierra directions and pdf fromt the merc manual or clashing
The merc instructions show using the dot closest to the gasket surface, the Sierra show using the dot farthest from the gasket ..
There is apx a 1/4" difference between the two dots on the end of the float...
I am wondering if this is where I went wrong..
But if I am correct, setting it the merc way would have the needle shut sooner???
maybe a difference in length between the sierra and merc needle/seat combos???
Here are a couple pics, you can see the spring not sitting on the pump the way it did with the old one(pic in front of cabinet)
Thanks a bunch
