I recently bought a 1988 Bayliner, with a Force 85 outboard motor. Took it out to the lake this weekend, started and ran fine all day yesterday, killed it and cranked back up multiple times throughout the day with no problems whatsoever. This morning, we jump in the boat, it just cranks and cranks and cranks, but will not turn over. I did accidentally start it last night with the trim up all the way, so the prop was out of the water water for maybe 30-45 seconds while running. Would that have anything to do with my no start condition this morning??

Re: 88 Force 85

If it started in the up position it probably needs carb cleaning, fuel pump diaphram.Carb floats set.
I had a motor that would no matter what I did it was a bugger to start. It would do nothing until I would tilt it all the way up and choke it and turn it over then it would start,I'd shut it down real quick. Then I could lower it and it would start.J
