Howdy,<br /><br />I am looking at purchasing a sport cuddy w/ an '87 Merc 230 (5.0 Liter) with a FWC system (Mercruiser system not aftermarket FWC). Do any of you have a experience with this cooling system?<br /><br />I will be boating in salt water and brackish so I thought the closed cooling would be my best approach. In talking to a Merc dealer he mentioned that the FWC engines by Merc of the late 80's had many problems with components related to the cooling system. Have any of you had a positive or negative experience w/ this model and system?<br /><br />Another option I may look into is adding an aftermarket FWC system to a Merc 260. I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks!
