No spark on the port side of engine. My engine has 2 power packs, I have swapped them and the problem remains on the port side. I even swapped a coil just to be sure that all three coils aren't bad. I tried following the Seloc ignition tests and all seem good except the charge coil resistance is low for both sides of the engine. I do not have the "CD Voltmeter Tester" that they refer to in the book. I am getting ready to pull the flywheel. Are there any other suggestions to narrow down which component is bad? Can the Stator be reversed to see if the problem moves to the other side?

Thanks, maybe I will give that a try before I pull the flywheel for an inspection.

Well you eliminated the port powerpack as suspect. Instead of swapping all the wires, just swap the stator leads between powerpacks, if the no spark condition jumps banks then you know it's the stator that needs replacement.

And once you confirm that, you may also need to test the timer base because they tend to go with the stator. There is a good ohm meter test for checking the timer base.

well.... I swapped the connecors from the stator to the powerpacks and spark was obtained on both sides of the engine. I have been checking for spark by removing spark plugs from engine and inserting an automotive spark tester inline with a spark plug on each side.
Then I put everything back into the engine. Started the engine and got spark on both sides of the engine. seemed to be erratic and the engine was not running well.
I will probably pull the flywheel and see if there is any obvious problem. Any specific ideas?

Humm, maybe your stator is on the verge of going and is acting up or you have a connection/grounding problem with the wires.

Again -- not a expert opinion so purhaps someone more experienced in this area can chime in.
