On the above motor, I noticed that the shift rod adjustment was extremely touchy. Is this normal, or are my clutch dogs about wore out? I seem to barely be able to lock in forward and reverse, alternatly.

A new shift cable will probably solve your problem.

I switched cables and boxes, I believe the old box had slop. Still felt touchy on adjustment. Im gonna hopefully try it tomorrow on the water (replaced water pump assembly). BTW, any easy way to clean the speedo pick up in the lower unit? I tried air and wire. Mine is clogged pretty solid with dirt.
