Re: 87 century 4500 lx cc

Hi Jeff. I have a 1991 4500 CLX that I have owned for 10 years. It's treated us very well. Recently though, the fuel gauge has been reading improperly. I estimate I burn around 5.3 gal per hour. Any idea what the fuel capacity is? I think it's a 40 gal tank, but I do not have the manual and it's been a long time since I ran her that low and filled up.

The Century 4500's have a 75 gallon fuel capacity. On your rear bench seat, lift the seat and look dead center...there is an access pannel to the tank. There is also a tag with all the information on it.

As far as manuals....I have a 454 in mine with a Bravo outdrive, so I don't have the right engine manual as yours. I assume you have a bravo drive??? It's either that or alpha....not entierly sure when the alpha series came out though.

....on another note, how fast does your 5.7 go?

Hi,

Can you tell me the dry weight of a 87 Century 4500 lx cc? I am trying to sell mine and a buyer weighed it - it weighed 6700 lbs which is about 1000 lbs more than I was told. Is it listed in your manual?

Thanks

Roughly 4000 lbs, however you need to take into consideration which motor you have, the Big Block 454 is going to be heavier then the 5.0 & the 5.7. Then there is the massive 75 gallon fuel cell, and of coarse the water holding tank in the bow. 6500 lbs on a trailer....I wouldn't contest that. 6500 lbs - trailer weight of 1050 lbs = 5450 lbs - 75 gallons of fuel 450 lbs = 5000 lbs - 300 lbs of holding tank water = 4700 lbs ...your now missing roughly 700 to 1000 lbs... take into account what you have on for gear to account for the rest of it.

Keep in mind alot of folks don't know how to weigh a trailer. How exactly did he weigh it; a simple deduction of what he thinks his truck weighs then leaving him with "x" amount of weight to account for....not at all accurate unless he rolled over the scale first with his truck.

Do us a favor and post some pictures of your boat! What are you asking for it?
