I am about to attempt a bellows replacement, lower shift cable replacement, and possibly gimbal bearing replacement and have a few questions:
1. Is there any reason to go with an exhaust bellows instead of the tube?
2. Is a cheap alignment bar with bearing installer from ebay OK?
3. I have read that the hinge pin tool is not a necessity-correct?
4. Shift cable socket-required or not?

Any tips or advice from those who have completed this are welcome and appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Ayuh,..... #1 is an Opinion thing, to each his own, I like the tube,...

#3, I use a 1/2" allen key,....

#4, Nope,.... Tearin' it down, pull the cable, cut the liner, 'n use a good 6-pt. socket to turn the old housin' out,...
The new cables, the little white liner, Unscrews, so you can install the housin', 'n then screw the liner back on, then feed through the new cable,...
