I have a late 80's 150 hp Mariner that won't idle or come out of the hole with out the enrichener. Once i get up on plane...i can go from 25 mph to 50mph and back no problem. When I back it off more than that it generally dies. I have rebuilt the fuel pump. Cleaned the carbs. The mains are jetted .064, the idles are at .056. Could the idles be wrong? Reeds all look good. What do the black hoses that come off the front of the intake do? I have to replace one of those hoses. I had to rebuild the motor. I bought it with 3 bad pistons. Stator was also bad. I put in new fuel. Any suggestions?

FOLLOW THE "LYNC AND SYNC" THREAD, ILL LOOK FOR THE LINK

IDLER NEEDLES NOT SET RIGHT, SOUNDS LIKE

<<<<QUOTE FROM THE THREAD>>>>"Take the boat off the trailer and go out in the water. Try the hole shot. If it falls on it's face try adjusting the idle screws out 1/4 turn at a time (all of them together) till you can get a hole shot. You can kind of do this on the trailer at the ramp, but it's not really safe for you, the boat, or the tow vehicle."

The small hoses are bleed hoses that take puddled fuel at idle from behind the reeds to the opposite cylinder to be burned. The fittings in the reed plate are check valves, and bad check valves or hoses will mess up idle.

hope it helps

Thanx...I found 2 bad bleed hoses. I printed off the link and sync stuff and I am going to do that today. On these carbs there is no idle needle. There is only an oriface that allows air into where the needle adjustment should be.

The WH carbs are factory set plenty phat on the idle mix. Odds are pretty good that the bleed hoses are killing the idle, and maybe timing and throttle pickup on the link n sync are killing the blast off.

If you can give me the WH numbers off a carb, I have the jet table for it.

hope it helps
