86 yam. prov 150

its a little hard to start but once started it runns great all day no more probelms starting just the first time of the day..any ideas???<br />also can anyone tell me what the little black box under the oil resovoir is it has a toggle switch on it..

They are a little cold natured. Check to make sure the choke is closing all of the way. There is a mark on the solinoid plunger to line up for this . You need to get a manual to check the timing and understand the motor and its operation. There are several adjustments such as the carbs and timing which have a tendency to vibrate out of place over the years and affect how easily the motor starts.

Hi edjr,<br /><br />The black box with the toggle switch is the oil control unit. It controls the pump in the large tank and the red, yellow, green indicator lights in the tach. There are oil level sensors in the small tank which are monitored by the control unit, turning on and off the pump in the large tank. The toggle switch is used to manually pump oil to the small engine tank if there is some malfunction in the oil supply system. There is a very good article on how the Yamaha oil system works at a website called bass and walleye something????? I don't have the URL handy.
