86' Johnson 115 with a bad fuel pump

Trying to figure out if I can use a Fuel pump repair kit or do I need to pay 400$ for a new one??

Another option: Bombardier makes a modified replacement fuel pump which you may consider. It's a new fuel pump without the oil pump side. Looks just like the original, but you have to mix the gas and oil in the tank with this type pump. You save about $100 over the regular oil/fuel mixing (oms) type pump.

You could convert it to a pulse type pump and run pre-mix fuel.

If it's a VRO II pump, you can get a rebuild kit here: http://www.maxrules.com/fixomcvro.html

Note: only the gas side is rebuildable.

I have just completed a conversion to a 1983 fuel pump on my 1989 140 vro. I also had a fuel pump failure and bought the 83 pump for under $70. I will now run premix
