I'm trying to get my 86 Force to start. I haven't had it going this year. I located a "short" in a (not sure what it's called) "rectifier" I think. This little black square unit has a battery wire, a tach wire, a ground wire, and a green wire that goes under the fly wheel. When I leave the black wire conected it grounds the whole motor with the possitive wire. I remove...all is fine.. but engine will not start

This unit has the markings of: AC, AC, +, - ... my friend thinks this is the AC adapter from DC... is this possibly my problem..

Thanks, Jc
