This weekend the outboard went clunk clank when I was starting it. As one could guess it wouldn't start so home I came. When looking at it I discovered the spark advance linkage had come off. Went and picked up new ball and socket linkage holders today and tonight was in process of repair. Noticed that there was an unusually large amount of metal shavings on the underside of the flywheel (on the magnets) so I pulled it to clean up and check out source, if any. Looks to be 2 (okay, there is 2) magnets missing on the flywheel. I really don't think this just happened due to the absence of enuf fragments. I know that a new flywheel and magneto is necessary but in the short term (one evening this week - jackpot tournment) can this motor be ran (maybe checking and securing the remaining magnets if needed).

The outer magnets can be repalced. There should be a total of 6.

Thanks for the response. I epoxied the magnets back in the correct places, cleaned the whole show up, and put back together. We'll see what happens.
