E40ELCD has a problem with the lower cyl. washing down from excessive fuel.
I have rebuilt both carbs, switched carbs top to bottom, replaced reeds, plugs,
coil all to no avail. When cruising at 3 to 4K RPM you can see a LOT more
fuel being pulled thru the lower carb. throat. It also seems to want to push
fuel out the front of the carb also. This thing has me stumped! What am I missing here? Thanks in advance, Steve

you might have your feul mix to high id check the pump and your lets might be too loose you might need to tighten them up

Hi...
I had exactly the same thing happen on my 50 hp...... bottom carb lots and lots of fuel even though I had rebuilt them both.. I got a second carb kit and rebuilt the bottom one again. What I found was that the float was sticking down and flooding out the bottom cylinder..... I fixed with the new parts and it has been great ever since.

Fuel flow into carb controlled by needle and seat. Reed plates prevent crankcase pressure from coming out of carb.

it is a relatively easy process, you can see diagrams here, (intake manifold) http://shop2.evinrude.com/ext/index.aspx?s1=bf6ad09c53cead335fcfd8a6471c0f7f
i would order 2 of these (should be a pair, one pair for each carb)

Part Number: 0317739
Description: LEAF VALVE

one of these

Part Number: 0317504
Description: GASKET, REED BOX

Replaced them early on in the struggle. Also has new fuel pump(non-VRO) and
a new sensor coil. Could this be a ring issue? Thanks, Steve
