86 16ft bayliner

Hey all, i have just reacently purchased the boat and found that 2 of the cleats are loose and the screws will not tighten, any sugestions on how to fix this issue with the fiberglass, thanks

Ayuh,... Either go to through screws,+ nuts, or fill the holes,+ redrill 'em...

The cleats on my 1985 16' Bayliner are through bolted. There are washers and locking nuts on the underside.

You have to reach up under the gunnel to hold the nuts so they can be tightened, otherwise they just spin. If you need to take the side panels off, note that the screws are hidden well in the folds of the upholstery. All the fasterers are regular wood screws, except one on each side center is a machine bolt w/locking nut on it.
