I got a dt 140 and the bottom 2 cyls wont fire, I've checked the oil sensor also the heat sensor and they are fine. All the coils are working and the plugs are good. I have read on this forum that the cdi units rarely ever go bad but im out of ideas. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: 85 suzuki dt140 bottom cyl. wont fire

I found out that the spark plug wires on the DT140's are not standard, at least that is the case on my '93. On my engine the plug wires are not removable but the cap ends are and they have a resistor. I replaced one on my #3 cylinder and it runs a lot better. Just unscrew the old one off and screw on the new one. Use a little CRC 656 on the new cap end where you insert the wire to make it easy.

# 1 cylinder was not firing. My CDI unit was to blame. The wire for # 1 cylinder had turn to dust in the cdi. I did repair it but its not easy.

Re: 85 suzuki dt140 bottom cyl. wont fire

I am having the same issue with my DT140 1986 but it's the top 2 cylinders not firing. The marina doesn't have a Suzuki manual so they say they can't fix it because they don't know the oms (sp??) that suppose to be on the wires. We switched out the bottom wire from the CDI to the top coil and the top coil fired then. So do that mean the CDI is bad? Does anyone know the test procedures for checking the CDI and or Statter (sp??) Thanks

These CDi's are bulletproof .... if it cuts half the cylinders it is in limp mode ...
