Hello neighbors, Haven't been on here in a while. i bought a group of engines and I am having trouble identifing one of them. I am pretty sure it is later than 73. The cowl says 85 Starflight. Someone butchered up the mounting bracket and replaced it with a mid 90's power trim so I have no Ser. #. I have a 135 hp 1973 and it has coil packs. this motor has the spark plug wires coming from a round thing under the flywheel at different points, Reminds me of a dist cap that the fly wheel spins on top of. Any ideas would be great. Thanks

Well, first, it is a distributor cap. Your motor has what is called "Battery CD Ignition". That would be pre-1973. Used on a number of models.

Look for the round quarter-sized disk on the powerhead with the model and serial numbers stamped on it.
