85 Merc won't accelerate after warmup

My 85 Merc inline 6 115hp starts fine,idles fine and revs up in neutral without any problems.Runs fine at high speed until it warms up about 5-10 minutes.If you push the throttle down it just wants to quit running,if you very slowly push the throttle forward it does much better but still not good.I measured the resistance of the stator leads and the reading is supposed to be 5400-6200 ohms,all readings were right on the button except for one pair that measured 10000 ohms the first time and about 8000 ohms after that.Does this sound like a bad stator and is it possible that would be causing the problems at high speed.....

First check to see if your carbs are running rich. Squeeze the primer bulb and see if fuel comes out of them.<br /><br />Next, check for spark on all cyl's after the problem starts. IF you are able to get decent speed after the problem starts...I doubt it is the stator. I would lean more towards a coil.<br /><br />TMD
