I'm desperate.... all the outboard repair shops in my area have a 3 week back up (minimum) so I need to repair this myself if possible.

I have an 85 8 HP Sailmaster that starts great but will run only of the priming pump is pulled half way out and even then it does not run real good at high speeds. At high speed it sounds a little bogged down. Even after it warms up when you push it in the motor speeds up a moment and then it dies. I have followed all the trouble shooting directions I have available which included rebuilding the carb, replacing the fuel pump, and checking the fuel lines for obstructions. The fuel is fresh, the plugs are new and gapped correctly. Something I have noted is that when the priming pump is pulled half way out the pump allows a little fuel to bypass the carb and go directly into the motor. If I pinch the line from the pump to the motor it dies. I know that a motor that is functioning properly will not need this fuel that it's getting from the priming pump. Help!!! Has anyone had this experience, and if so, what did you do?

Thanks in advance, Brian
