I finally got my boats interior finished an went to the lake for the first time in 10 months. We were having a graet time running her and everything seemed fine with the engine until later that afternoon when I was running about 4000 rpms. The engine just started bogging down, I backed off the throttle for a few seconds and then throttled back up, The beast took right off again but after about 15 seconds it bogged down again. This continuously happened thus ending her re-maiden voyage. Bummer. Anyone know whats happening? 85 hp model #856X4L

Sucking crud up from the bottom of the gas tank??
Old fuel line sucking in some air?
Fuel pump going out?
Water in the gas?
Dirt in the carb?

Sound more like the fuel pump to me. I would check the fuel system.

Thanks all. I will replace the fuel pump and clean the carbs and add a new filter.

Just rebuild the fuel pump. Only cost is 10 bucks for the kit. Chances are it is just the diaphram that is bad. No need to buy a new fuel pump
