Everytime I run this engine i have to adjust the fuel mixture screws--it runs fine- next time I go out have to do it again. Any ideas why it gets out of adjustment ? Thanks for your help

Are they backing out? Are you setting them 1 full turn out from lightly seated? I set/check mine before every season, and once during. I have never had one move on me.

I suppose its possible that you get crud building up on your needles, and when you mess with them it clears them out. I think we need more info as to what it is doing, and what you have done.

Yes I am adjusting them out from lightly seated--takes about a turn and 1/4 to run correctly. It coughs and cuts off at idol. I adjust and it does fine for the day, next time out --usually a week or so. Have to go thru same routine. The boat stays in the water at a slip.

Sounds like carb cleaning time. Adjusting screw can dislodge any thing making it run bad. have u counted turns in to slightly seat? Hope this help but i have had some similar problams runing ethanol fuel with sludge building up in carb .now i use stable its a little better

The springs on the idle mixture screws are actually on the outside of the screw itself (wrapped on the body). The purpose is to prevent the screw from moving or turning due to vibration. Make sure you are adjusting the right screw. Post a pic if you have any doubts.
