Am looking at an 85 140HP/TLCO. Anybody<br />know the difference between TLCO & TXCO for that year motor. Also. If there are any known<br />"quirks" for that year model, would appreciate any info/experience avail. Am told and believe this motor has very few hours on it. Looks like showroom condition. (not redone. I would know).<br />This will be my first experience with a motor this size. It's mounted on a 20ft Proline split console walthru fishing boat.<br />Thanks for help/advice<br />Bob ;)

I do not recall if the 140 of that year was a looper or cross-flow.<br /><br />The cross flow 140's were a little on the ragged edge of output for the 99.6 cid block.<br /><br />OK if not run too hard.

I think that in 1985 the 140hp was a looper...the cid went from 99.6ci to 110ci. Wot went from 5500rpms to 6000rpms also. TLCO is a 20"shaft length and TXCO is a 25" shaft length. Good motor that needs good gasoline to run. Thought101

If it's looper-you're right. Gobs of torque. About the only difference between the 120 and 140 was the redline.
