Lots of third world countries do repairs like that, where do you live?

If the only issue is a hole in the piston, to take the bad piston out and plug the hole would be more work than just replacing the piston with a different one, the motor needs to be disasembled to the same degree for either type of "fix".

I'm thinking if you pul the spark plugs and aim the ceder rod just right you can hit the hole maybe lube it with some preparation h and beat it in then turn cylinder to top dead center drill the ceder rod down flush with piston. You should be good to go.

I live in freeport me....the mechanical said it may work, seems like a knowledgeable guy. If I do anything, I'd replace the piston, or just find a newer great shape motor

If your truly being serious the only way to fix this problem is to replace the piston.

when referring too a cedar pulg to fill the hole in the piston no one is going to take you seriously.

Except from the sound of it, the idea was to remove the piston/rod and use a cedar plug to pack the cylinder? Still, you'd end up with an unbalanced 3 cylinder engine with, as you already noted, no power. Probably do well to steer well clear of that mech.

You may be right. Nobody could be as STUPID as that mechanic. But then again...................

If the owner is perplexed by this and does not realize the extent of the damage, this mechanic is having a good chuckle !!!!
