85 115 johnsons

I have a pair of 1985 seadrives same as johnson starboard motor starts and runs great but while under way i cant get over 3000 rpm sometimes it will hit 4000 but less lately recently changed cables adjusted several times could i have a timing problem ? new plugs filters etc this season but never ran 100% this season

check your spark, compression, what do you plugs look like. could also be clogged high speed jets. post the results of your findings.

Thankyou Tashasdaddy , I will check these things out this weekend also forgot to state it will rev up to proper rpm while under no load.. if that makes a difference>?

Don't rev the motor up with no load. Great way to toast a powerhead.
