First some history, since I'll probably be back for more advice in the future.

I've inherited this boat that hasn't been run in 15+ years. I've cleaned the carbs and am in the process of replacing all the rubber tubes and hoses.

I noticed some thick sludge oozing from the nipple at the bottom of the intake manifold, so I decided to pull the whole thing off and clean it out too. I've got the replacement gasket set for the whole power head.

Anyway, I removed all the bolts and disconnected everything, but I cannot get the manifold to budge. The gasket has evidently fused it.

What do I do to get that thing off?

I really appreciate any help you guys have.

I use a lead deadblow hammer, being lead it deforms instead of breaking things but has weight to impart the inertia required,

but try a block of wood to cushion a hammer blow,
tap one side then the other to work it loose.

hopefully you have the factory service manual, at least take photos if not.

Re: '84 Johnson GT 150 Restoration

Thanks for posting a reply and helping me out.

I've got the SELOC manual and I took some photos before pulling everything off. I also tried the hammer and wood block approach, but I wasn't getting anywhere and was afraid I would damage it. I wasn't hitting it as hard as I could, but I'm new to this.

I'll go back and keep at it.

Thanks again,
