84 Johnson 115 V-4 Throttle Adjustment

I have 3\4 dead travel and have to push throttle hard for max response. Is there an adjustment with the thumbwheel or is the cable just stretched out and needs to be replaced.

Yes there is an adjustment. Disconnect the throttle cable at the engine end. Move the engine's throttle pin through it's range by hand, noting the idle and WOT positions. Move the control box handle from idle to WOT, noting the cable's engine end range of movement. The two should match. If not, turn the thumbwheel on the cable end to adjust it to match the engine's throttle range of movement.
