Hey guys can anyone give me some pointers on a link and sync for this motor? Motor ran great, then I did fuel system overhaul and moved the motor to another boat and I have to keep the neutral isle lever up to keep it running. First I want to make sure carb butterflies are closed in neutral, then I adjust the carbs? Where is a good starting point for carb idle needles? Other than that motor runs like a champ!

You will need a timing light if you are checking full spark advance and the idle stop. I unfortuntely dont know what the timing spec at idle and full spark advance is for this engine

Ok ill pick up a timing gun. That link you sent me was great! Is there anyway you can send me one pertaining to the 70hp and up? The one you sent is for 60 hp and lower.

The sync and link procedure is somewhat detailed. Best to do it from an original factory service manual, where pictures accompany the text. You may want to check out this website: outboardbooks.com I wouldn't be concerned about the idle timing. It winds up being different for every boat-at idle. Just make sure it idles at 700-750 rpm's when the boat is floating normally in the water, and it's in forward gear.

I hear ya. Well I do want a service manual for future but I am trying to get on the water on Friday. Motor runs great just needs a tiny. It of tweaking. That's why I just wanted someone to give me some pointers. Really there are only three adjustment points, just have to do it in the right order. Idle stop, carb needles, and throttle linkage. So just some pointers would be greatly appreciated :)
