Hey all,
Looking for a little advice on my project 84 Evinrude 25HP, E25RLCRD .
It was stuck into forward, went through the typical troubleshooting and it definitely appeared to be seized somewhere.
Took off the powerhead to get at the shift assembly, but ran into a snag at the shift shaft (or what the schematics call #39 - ADJ. LEVER & SHAFT ASSY.) It was definitely seized, and with the help of vice grips, we?ve got it to rotate 360 degrees to try and loosen any corrosion but it won?t come out from the exhaust housing.
The shift rod and washers, c-clips etc are off, it?s just the shaft assy and exhaust housing. Is there a component that holds this shaft assy in place or a special direction it needs to come out at to match up with some grooves? The tune up and repair manual is useless on describing this. We?ve use a fair amount of force with a hammer and punch tool to no avail. At this point I just want to get the thing out so I?m open to about anything.
Short of drilling this thing out, I?m at a loss
Thanks for any help!
