Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and I need some advice. This is my first year with my 83 50 hp mercury. I bought it from my fishing buddy's widow after he passed. The motor starts and runs great, but when I open the throttle wide open the boat will start to plane out and then the motor slips and revs up like it's out of gear. From what I've read I wonder if the clutch dog needs replacing or if the prop is getting bad. (I did scrape the prop over a shallow rock). This motor means a lot to me ; any ideas?
