83 Merc 70hp, idling then slips out of gear

Got a 83 merc 70hp and it will idle fine and go into the forward gear then as soon as i give it some more throttle it will slip out of gear and rev up...

any help is greatly appreciated

Hi,

Your prop hub could be slipping.
If the clutch dog is jumping it will clunk when it jump out and back into gear.
With a bad hub it will work ok in reverse but just rev up with no speed in forward.

Thats what it was, had me worried there for a sec...i was thinkin "looks like i need to loosen this nut and this nut to take the lower end off,...oh i better drain the fluid first...."
