I have recently acquired an '82 merc 25hp. it didn't run so I rebuilt the carb and now its "running". The problem I am having is I don't let it run very long because I don't have any water flow out of the tell tail. Instead water comes out of five hole in the back of the mid section and it gets stronger as my rpms climb. I've tried it running in a bucket and with muffs and there is no change. I removed the lower unit and replaced the water pump and while I had the lower unit off I blew air through the water pipe and it comes out strongest out of the tell tail (where I have no water coming out when running it). There also is air coming out of the five holes in the back of the mid section, but not as strong as out of the tell tail. I reassembled it with the new water pump and still there is no change, water still comes out of the five holes in the back of the midsection and gets stronger as rpm increases and still nothing out of the tell tail. Any ideas, I'm at a loss.
