Im trying to remove the foot to install oil and impellor. Disconnected the shift rod retaining clip thats located in the water inlet on the foot per you tube video and the nut on the threaded bolt on top the foot and the 4 bolts holding the foot on and this thing wont budge.Im thinking the shaft is froze in the powerhead unless Im doing or forgetting something. Any ideas that might help. Thanx in advance

Do you have the wee black retainer off.?-------------Might try heat around the stud are at the front.--------------The locating dowel there sometimes gets stuck.------------Just finished rebuilding one of those units for a shop yesterday.----------Full of water and all bearings / gears / seals replaced.

It will separate a little bit if it is indeed a stuck DS. I'm with racerone^ on that stud being stuck. Pb blaster/heat will help. Thread the nut most of the way on if you want to persuade w/hammeršŸ˜Ž

Ok got the foot off changed oil and when I took the impellor housing off I noticed the impellor was fine. The reason I started this project was I was flushing the motor and noticed the tell tale wasnt peeing. It was for about 2 minutes then quit. I said well I need to change the impellor. Ok so I did that today and got everything together and still not peeing but Im getting nice cold water spraying out the exhaust ports. Took water jacket housing off the head and it was bone dry on the inside but no obstructions. Made new gasket and put together and still the same thing. Im kinda stumped. Any ideas?

If you're running on muffs, you cannot really test waterpump function.. use a barrel deep enough to submerge pump, or back boat into lake to test. If no indicator stream, poke a wire in the nipple to see if it's clogged. If head temp gets over 180, you are overheating..shut it down and post back for testing.

Good plan.. If the watertube isn't secure in the waterpump-housing grommet, you could just be filling the exhaust housing while running, and once full, the water is spilling out the exhaust relief ports..and no water to indicator or powerhead. When apart, blow air up the watertube and you should feel air coming out the indicator.. Also, check for cracks in the side of grommet.
Good luck!

The thing is my water tube is secured in the pump housing and I had to get the drive shaft and the water tube in the powerhead together. I thought the tube would of stayed in the powerhead and I would of had to put it in the pump housing not vise versa.

Watertube needs to be installed to upper grommet first, then fitted to lower grommet when attaching gearcase.

Thats what Ive always thought. Kinda puzzled me when I took the foot off and the water tube was attached to the pump housing. Back to work I guess. Thanx for the info and insight.
