Next, get your hands on a DVA Meter or a DVA Adapter to use with any Volt/Ohm meter, and a remote starter button or a helper to turn the key.
Pull the plugs and ground all the wires (so there is no errant sparks) to save the starter and battery, and start testing the triggers and the stator, following the detailed instructions from CDI. They have written a VERY usful guide covering most ALL outboard motors from many manufacturers.
